Stepping Stones

Stepping Stones is a partial hospitalization program for children ages six to eleven years old. Stepping Stones understands that children who are experiencing mental health issues need to make educational progress. This goal is achieved by providing daily education and therapy to our children. The Stepping Stones Program has three classrooms, each staffed with two bachelor’s level therapists, one master’s level therapist, and a Philadelphia School District approved teacher. Each child’s individual classroom placement is determined by the child’s social, emotional, and educational level.

Stepping Stones is the only long-term partial hospitalization program in the city of Philadelphia. Working with the child and their families over an extended period of time allows us to develop therapeutic alliances as well as build stability and consistency.

We work from a strength based perspective, using each child’s strengths to help them attain their goals. Children successfully return to their home schools with new skills and an improved ability to assess situations and make better decisions.

Through a multi-disciplinary team approach that employs group, individual, and family therapy, as well as educational assessment and planning, each child is given the attention and support he or she needs in order to reach their educational and behavioral goals.
